Organization Challenge

Oprah's organization challenge. 10 minutes a day. I decided that I could do it. However, I'm not a quitter...so I kept going until the job was done (which was like 2 hours people). Kali's room was a disaster. I think I've been putting this off for like a year. My house is so small, that we need all the space we can get. So after seeing Melanie's closet I was inspired. Off to Walmart I went. However, Walmart was practically out of storage containers. The rest of the Southwest Valley must have watched Oprah as well. When they didn't have the pink bins I was hoping for, I was just gonna forget about it. But I decided that I'd procrastinated enough.

I don't have a label maker, but I do have a vinyl machine...so as you can see, I just labeled each storage bin. I'm sure you are all thinking that it still looks like a mess. You should have seen it before!!!

I am ready to do the rest of the house. However I'm pretty sure that by the time I get done with the last room, it will be time to start over on the first!

Since I spent two hours today, am I off the hook for the next 20 days?

Celest to the Rescue

I am still without a house phone. It's now been three days since we went from "Hey Qwest, I have a little static on my line...", to "Hey Qwest, I have no line now...thanks mr. repair man." Let me tell you that I have been put through the run around. I have no confidence in Qwest's customer service.

Let's begin my long and PAINFUL story...(I will cut out some of the details...like being hung up on several times)
We start by my phones going fuzzy on Monday night. Thinking it's the cordless phones we have, I go out and buy new phones. The next morning, the phones are a little fuzzy. So I call Qwest. They send someone out that afternoon. He tells me that it's the line that the protection company ran, and leaves. I call Protection One, who tells me that they don't do anything on the outside of the house so I call Qwest back, and ask them to send the guy back out. After Dude left, I have no phone whatsoever. They inform me that they cannot send him back out (even though he was here 5 minutes ago). The best they can do is to send someone out the next morning. So Wednesday morning comes and goes, and the afternoon comes and goes. NOBODY.
So now we are at Thursday. I was promised that I would be the first call. Well at this moment, it is now 2:10, and I am definately not the first call, but the repair guy WILL be here before 6:00pm. That's the best they can tell me.

But...the best part of my story is Good Ol Celest. I love her! She is a neighbor of mine, who is one of the sweetest, most thoughtful people alive! She heard my sob story (which is really lame...I shouldn't be this angry) and shows up with a fountain Diet Coke (the best kind of Diet Coke EVER) and a pie. Which about put me in tears! How could she KNOW how much I needed her? I totally HEART Celest.

Drowning in Snow Gear

I hate buying snow attire every year, so this year I decided I'd buy them a size bigger. Holy cow!!! TOO big! I'd take them back, but of course the kids were so excited they ripped all the tags off!! Any of you remember 'A Christmas Story'?? That will be all of my kids out in the snow this year..and maybe next! "Come on Ralphie...."

A New Stage

Stage one: Stage Fright. The big kids were all ready for our primary program. Mom came to sit with Kaisey during Sacrament. I had to sit with my Primary class up on the pulpit, and Trent had been gone all weekend for guard.. Kali decided that once she got to the microphone that she wanted no part of it.

Stage two: The 'do not place objects too close to baby' stage. We went out to eat, and the waitress placed a glass of ice water right in front of baby. Yup...the entire glass of water went into Kaisey's lap. It was totally awesome!

(Just like daddy...tongue is out with determination!)
On the way to the restaurant, I was commenting on some cute halloween costumes I saw on two of my friends blogs. The children were Alvin and the Chipmunks. Abbi says, "Let's do that next year, and I'll be Simon." I said, "Oh you want to be the smart one?" She says, "Yep!" Kaleb says, "I'll be Alvin, and Kali can be the fat one." Trent and I were laughing so hard, and anyone who knows Kali knows how well that went over.

Our Precious Gifts

Abbi and I went to Trent Duval's viewing tonight. For those of you who didn't know Trent, he was an AMAZING boy! He fought a long, hard battle with Leukemia. He was only 8 years old with a testimony of a 20 year old. He was an amazing little missionary. I was glad that Abbi was talking to me about random things. She completely distracted me. I didn't want to be emotional for the family's sake. However, the second I walked out the door I completely lost it.

I'm not sure who's child was crying hysterically..but that brought back the memories of me being only 5 years old, attending the viewing of my little friend Mandy.

Remember what a precious gift our children are, and hug them a little tighter!!

Tent City

Welcome to Tent City in Jordan Landings. If you were one of the first 100 people to get into line at Chick-fil-a, you got a free combo meal a week for an entire year. I'm proud to say, I was number 50! We had such a good time, AND they even fed us! (How about me looking like the Stay-Puff Marshmellow man from Ghostbusters?)

Katrina, Barbara, Laura and I after we won a relay race. We won Chick-fil-a baseball caps. I think my friends finally realize my competitive nature. I kept yelling things like, "No Failure!" and "Total Domination!"

I was so excited after the long cold night was done, that I even kissed the cow!!! (I think he liked it!!) The toothfairy even remembered to make a visit last night!!! Good times!!

Election Day

Let me be honest. I've never voted. I've never cared but most importantly I've never been worried either. I'm very worried this year. I think both candidates stink. Now it's either gonna be "joe the plummber" or (in my opinion) a terrorist....ok that may be a LITTLE harsh.

So I am gonna vote today and I'm going to vote for the lesser of two evils....not that it makes me feel ANY better.

1-800-

I found a paper with some 1-800 numbers on the counter.
"Who's writing 1-800 numbers?"
"I am mom." said Kaleb. "I just wasn't fast enough to get the entire thing."
"Ok, what's the number for?"
"It's for Hot Wheels mom."

Kaleb is so creative!

Abbi gave her testimony today in church. She is constantly surprising me. She actually got up and started out by saying, "Wow...so many kids have gotten up today to give their testimonies..." And then started her testimony. It was so cute! I'm very proud of her.

She's a movin'

Kaisey is finally starting to crawl. Hello! 8 months old child...you are S-L-O-W! All of my other kids were practically walking by this time. Abbi and Kaleb would dance when you sang to them, Kali was already waving hi. Kaisey has now also learned to clap, AND she is making some of the cutest noises ever! Tonight we went to the Anderson's for dinner (YUM) and Trent was holding Kaisey. I said, "A ma ma ma." She smiled and said, "A da da da." Little stink!!!
